"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35
One of the primary spiritual gifts of Holy Family is radical hospitality. This gift manifests itself not only in the welcoming, loving atmosphere that is experienced during the worship services, but also in the manner that the congregation reaches out to the community.
The second Sunday of each month is designated as Outreach Sunday. Items are collected for a designated organization, brought to the altar, blessed, and sent into the world. Organizations and activities supported during Outreach Sunday have included: Adelante (homeless children), Esperanza (battered families), Santa Fe Animal Shelter, socks project, adopted a family(ies), Camp Rising Sun (camp for children and youth with ASD), and Holy Family Fun Fair.
In addition to the Outreach Sunday collections, we host summer community luncheons, serve dinner at either Adelante or Pete's Place (homeless shelter), and operate a Pass Through Pantry for those in need of food.
Holy family is a "mission with a mission." We have a heart for all families, especially those affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other sensory processing disorders.
As the representative of God and church in the world, Deacon Lane will be working with the outreach committee to coordinate activities and empowering the members of the congregation to take God's love into the word. If you would like to champion any of these activities or if you have a different outreach project you would like to champion, please talk to Deacon Lane.
